The Real Me

General Idea/lesson learned:

It is easy for people to assume you have this glamorous life. That life is perfect and you have everything together. These days, social media makes it really easy to see it that way. We are all human and all have struggles. We are all going through something. Reality is, no one wants to show that side of themselves. It’s easier to show the “good” side of things to escape the deep things. It’s ok to not be ok. Don’t forget who you are. The good and the not so glamorous.

Why I wrote this song:

I am not perfect. I’m a real person with real feelings and real problems. I wanted to be transparent with you and let you know that I understand. Even if I don’t fully understand, I want you to know that I am here for you.

The one constant in this whole story is God. He keeps me together and pushes me to want to be better. I want you to know the same for you too. Besides, it’s in our weaknesses that his strength is made perfect in us.

Prayer:

God help me to be ok with being me. To not want to hide from being real and authentic. Help me to be the best me I can be. The real me. Not what society thinks I should be or even the people closest to me.

Interaction:

2 Corinthians 12:9

Philippians 3:12-14

I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it,[but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

1. Ask yourself. When I look in the mirror what do I see? Do I see what God sees?

2. If not, how can you shift your focus to love yourself better?

3. If so, how can you define what you see? What does that look like to you?

Hi Brooke here’s my answers!

1. When I look in the mirror I see someone who’s trying to find himself and what he’s meant to do and I kinda see what God see’s.

2. I guess to love myself better I would have to say that I will need to be okay with what ever happens to let it happen and to live better.

3. Well I see someone that wants to be a hero and try to live right by God.

Thank you this was fun and very challenging!

Love your biggest fan
