Perfect For Me

The Goal/Lesson Learned:

I’m sure we’ve all at some point found ourselves comparing our lives to someone else’s. In our eyes, that person ‘has it better’, right? We think thoughts like, ‘If only I had their kind of job’, ‘If only I had their perfect hair’, ‘If only I had their kind of clothes’… my life would be “perfect.” This world and especially social media, makes it so difficult for us to just live our lives happy for what we have.

Comparison is so crippling. Truth is, the person you are comparing yourself to is also comparing themselves to someone else. It’s a downward spiral. Want to know why? Because we are human and all have flaws. We are all different and that is OK!

No one lives a perfect life. You will fight your whole life trying to reach perfection, and never get there. Let God tell you who you are. Not social media. Let God use you in your calling. Not someone else’s.

Why I wrote this song:

I’d be dishonest if I said I’ve never compared myself to someone else. I have never felt fulfilled after that. It’s draining and exhausting. What comparison has done to me is it has opened up doors for the enemy to slip in and start telling me lies. Lies that say, “you aren’t good enough.” “That someone else out there is better.” I know these thoughts are straight from the enemy and I have learned how to shut that out.

I know that what God has for me is special because it’s for me. Same goes for you. What God has for you is a specific plan designed just for you. No one else. That’s why it will look different. Your struggles are not going to be the same as someone else’s, but it is making you into the person God wants you to be -if you let him.

Prayer:

Hey God,

Help me to love myself for who I am. Help me to accept what is perfect for me… and that’s YOU. All I have to know is what you say about me. That I am nothing without you. I need you because your love is perfect.

Amen

Interaction:

Oh, don’t worry; we wouldn’t dare say that we are as wonderful as these other men who tell you how important they are! But they are only comparing themselves with each other, using themselves as the standard of measurement. How ignorant!

-2 Corinthians 10:12

Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct. -Galations 6: 4-5

You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. -John 15:16

1. Have you ever compared yourself to someone else?

How did that make you feel?

2. What can you do to avoid comparison and jealousy?

3. What would a perfect life look like to you?

Do you think God’s plans are perfect for you and that you deserve it?

Yes I have definitely compared myself to others especially famous people like movie and tv shows actor a lot, like I dream that I was actually them chasing after the bad guys or going through the burning building or even winning the race but truthfully I know that I can never be somebody else because every Rome is a one of a kind and that God has something so much better the man who we want to be or pretend. By believe that God has something great for me. That’s a hard one but I would say that a perfect life to me is being with God and not having to worried about what the future is going to bring.…
